The Polish American Medical Society (PAMS) in Chicago is reminding Polish students that the deadline (March 31, 2021) for submitting applications for the Annual Academic Scholarships is approaching.

PAMS awards over a dozen academic scholarships every year to students of Polish origin from the Chicago area who are studying medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine at universities in the USA or in Poland. Students are assessed on the basis of their academic performance (GPA over 3.0), achievements, interests, and participation in the Polish community.

Acquiring funds to finance these scholarships is the most important mission of the Polish American Medical Society. The main event organized for this purpose is the charity Physician’s Ball, which has been held every year for 70 years! In recognition of this tradition, PAMS receives donations for the scholarship fund from businesses, organizations, and individual donors. Efforts to sustain this social activity rest on the shoulders of successive Presidents and the Board of Directors of PAMS. The current president of PAMS is Dr. Piotr Brukasz.

This year, the Polish American Medical Society is celebrating its 75^thanniversary. Although the founders of our Society are not with us anymore, the memory of them lives on.

Many former PAMS scholars are already specialists in various fields, they serve the Polish community, and are continually active in the initiatives of PAMS. The current epidemic is one of the examples of joint activities of Polish doctors who provide reliable scientific information to our community together with the media.

We hope that the next students, who will receive scholarships from the Polish American Medical Society this year, will also cooperate with us, and be inspired by many years of PAMS successful activities and endeavors. Recently, the youth section – Junior PAMS has been formed within the structures of ZLP, which significantly mobilizes and facilitates the integration of students.

The deadline for scholarship applications submission is March 31, 2021.

Związek Lekarzy Polskich – ZLP (Polish-American Medical Society – PAMS) w Chicago przypomina polonijnym studentom, że zbliża się termin (31 marca 2021) składania podań o doroczne stypendia akademickie.

ZLP – PAMS przyznaje co roku kilkanaście stypendiów akademickich studentom polskiego pochodzenia z rejonu Chicago, studiującym medycynę, stomatologię lub weterynarię na uniwersytetach w USA lub w Polsce. Studenci oceniani są na podstawie wyników akademickich (GPA ponad 3.0), innych osiągnięć, zainteresowań, udziału w życiu Polonii i potrzeb finansowych.

Pozyskiwanie funduszy umożliwiających finansowanie tych stypendiów jest najważniejszą misją Związku Lekarzy Polskich.  Główną imprezą organizowaną w tym celu jest charytatywny Bal Lekarzy, odbywający się co roku od 70 lat! W uznaniu tej tradycji, często z okazji Balu, ZLP otrzymuje też donacje na fundusz stypendialny od biznesów, organizacji i indywidualnych darczyńców. Wysiłki na rzecz podtrzymywania tej działalności społecznej spoczywają na barkach kolejnych Prezesów i Zarządu ZLP. Obecnym Prezesem ZLP jest Dr. Piotr Brukasz.

Związek Lekarzy Polskich w Chicago obchodzi w tym roku 75-lecie! Jego założycieli już z nami nie ma, lecz pamięć o nich żyje – jesteśmy szczególnie wdzięczni dawnym Prezesom ZLP, którzy w testamencie ufundowali stypendia swego imienia, które nadal przyznajemy naszej zdolnej młodzieży studiującej nauki medyczne.

Wielu byłych stypendystów ZLP jest już specjalistami w różnych dziedzinach, służy Polonii amerykańskiej, wielu działa na rzecz Związku i można liczyć na ich poradę i zaangażowanie. Obecna epidemia jest jednym z przykładów wspólnych działań lekarzy polonijnych udzielających wspólnie z mediami rzetelnych informacji naukowych naszej społeczności.

Liczymy na to, że kolejni studenci, którzy otrzymają w tym roku stypendia Związku Lekarzy,Polskich w Chicago też będą z nami współpracować, zainspirowani wieloletnią działalnością ZLP. Obecnie w ramach struktur ZLP uformowała się sekcja młodzieżowa – Junior PAMS, co znacznie mobilizuje i ułatwia integrację studentów.
