The Polish-American Medical Society (PAMS) Welcomed Honorary Guests at the Polish Museum of America

On January 30, 2015 PAMS members, students and guests were invited to the Polish Museum of America for an evening event to meet Honored Guests of the 65th Physicians’ Ball.
The event attendees were greeted by the President of PAMS, Dr. Kornelia Krol and by the Director of the Museum Ms. Malgorzata Kot, who also organized tours of the unique Paderewski Room.
The official program started with the presentation of the Guest of Honor of this year’s Ball,
Prof. Krzysztof Matyjaszewski, Professor of Natural Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, a polymer chemist, internationally recognized for his vision and innovations. Prof. Matyjaszewski is an author of over 800 publications and books, holds 197 patents and is the recipient of more than 20 scientific awards and seven honorary doctorates in five countries.
It has become our tradition to nominate each year new Honorary Members of the Polish-American Medical Society. This year we were happy to elect:
Dr. Kazimierz Nowak from London, GB, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, founder and first president of the Federation of Polish Medical Organizations Abroad;
Dr. Ewa Elenberg from Houston, TX, pediatric nephrologist, internationally recognized expert on cystinosis, Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, nationally known for her educational and leadership roles;
Dr. Miroslaw Wielgos from Warsaw, PL, internationally recognized specialist in fetal-maternal medicine, Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Dean at the Warsaw Medical University, and President of the Polish Gynecological Society;
Dr. Michael Hibner from Phoenix, AZ, internationally recognized specialist in pelvic neuralgias, Director of Gynecologic Surgery and the Arizona Center for Pelvic Pain, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Creighton University School of Medicine and Arizona College of Medicine; and a board member of the Americam Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists.
After each of the Honorary Members had an opportunity to address the audience,
Dr. Marek Rudnicki, President of the Federation of Polish Medical Organizations, moderated a panel on Global Healthcare Challenges and greeted Special Guests from Poland:
Dr. Elzbieta Radziszewska, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament;
Dr. Andrzej Matyja, Regional Malopolska Chamber of Physicians and Dentists;
Dr. Alicja Brzozowska and Mr. Tucson Dunn, Medicover.
Dr. Ewa Radwanska presented PAMS award to medical student Maria Kotarska for her involvment in global health initiatives.
Music program was presented by Marek Balata, a jazz vocalist from Piwnica pod Baranami in Krakow.
