Petra Von Heimburg, D.D.S., J.D. who is a practicing dentist
and lawyer, presented the seminar entitled “HIPPAA-Are you
Prepared?”.
The Seminar’s objectives were:
- Understanding the requirements mandated by HIPPAA
- Be able to write a compliance program for the Standard for
Electronic Transactions and the Privacy Rules
- Train your staff to be in compliance with the Standards
and the Rules
- Implement the Standards and Rules in your office
- Be able to respond to your patients’ questions and concerns

On February 17, 2002 the Polish American
Medical Society Dental Study Club had the pleasure of having
dr Renata Rzazewska - Johnson, present "Review and Update
in Orthodontics". Twenty three dentists attended and
learned the latest techniques in orthodontics to enhance their
knowledge in improving their patients' smile.
With the soon to be enforced HIPAA legislation, many attended
the April 17, 2002 seminar. Dr Petra von Heimburg, a practicing
dentist and attorney presented "Legal Issues Concerning
Dentistry". Forty seven attended to hear topics discussed
regarding proper record keeping, patient management, and HIPAA:
The Privacy Rules and the Standard for Electronic Transactions.
Representatives from Biora and Biohorizons demonstratet "Newest
Materials In Regenerative Therapy". New materials for
augmenting and preserving lost soft and hard tissue due to
gingival recession, peridontal disease, tooth loss, and atrophy
were peresented.
Joanna Mazurek spoke on behalf of the Chicago Catholic Medical
Mission to South America.
Dental companies sponsored both meetings at the White Eagle
Banquet Hall, and donated products and equipment.
